An 8-episode documentary series chronicling the transformative journeys of 11 Brazilian women entrepreneurs who overcame fear and adversity to build successful businesses and build up their communities.
Co-directed with Murilo Meola for Brazil's iconic appliance brand Consul, the series showcases how entrepreneurship becomes a vehicle for personal and community transformation.
Create a documentary that authentically captured the stories of women entrepreneurs from vulnerable communities, moving beyond traditional marketing to embody the brand's commitment to social change. The project needed to tell these stories in a way that was empowering and respectful, avoiding clichés to build a genuine emotional connection with the audience.
As Co-Director and DP, alongside Director/Producer Murilo Meole, our philosophy was built on the principle of dignified realism—honoring these women's struggles without exploitation and celebrating their victories without romanticizing.
To tell these stories with cinematic power and emotional depth, we wove together two approaches:
-Many of the scenes depicting their daily lives were scripted and composed as approaching narrative fiction. This allowed us to shape their journeys into a compelling emotional arc, treating them not as subjects to be observed, but as protagonists in their own stories.
-The narrative was anchored by raw, unscripted interviews where the women shared their own truths. Their authentic voices and experiences drive the film, providing the profound emotional core for the cinematic scenes.
This hybrid approach was brought to life with a dual visual style—blending observational camerawork for immersion with beautifully composed, portrait-like shots that give the women and their craft a sense of monumentality.
The series celebrates the 20th anniversary of Consulado da Mulher, Consul's social initiative that has transformed thousands of lives through entrepreneurship training, mentorship, and support. By documenting these women's journeys from vulnerability to victory, we crafted a testament to the power of women.
